From swimming pool to cricket square
in one easy maneuver ... in our dreams!!

Having had the area for the square
dug out for a number of weeks, on Saturday 6th May it was all hands to the
pumps (well shovels, rakes and barrows actually) to start layering in the
tons of loam that are required to create the foundation for the playing
surface.

The load (earthy stuff) laid is 8 foot wide strips of in
2" thickness. Each one being raked, leveled and trod in repeatedly to
ensure an even density. Everyone can at least help with the treading-in.

Three 2" layers of this grade are going on to each
strip for now. Each being leveled to a pair of scaffold poles which have
to be painstakingly installed to level before each run can progress.

So we've completed the first strip of three runs and
learnt a bit of technique in the bargain. Perhaps another one today (Sun
7/5).
If you have a spare couple of hours over the next few
weekends, why not come along and join in with the community spirit,
whether you are a budding cricketer or not, It is honestly very rewarding!
