PRESS RELEASE…PRESS RELEASE…PRESS RELEASE...PRESS RELEASE 25/3/00 Bransgore gets ‘web-wise’ with its brand new community based web site:
A simple concept: it’s the place to find all manner of information regarding the village, its people and the surroundings, in fact all things ‘Bransgore’ Built by the villagers for the benefit of locals and visitors alike. The idea is to expand it from its humble beginnings to accommodate whatever people wish to see. It already contains 38 pages that together describe the village, containing pictures, maps, the current weather situation, local news, a list of local clubs & societies, some historical facts and loads of links to other local web sites. The extensive gazetteer of local businesses and services includes some you would never know were there, such as the marquee hire company and the specialist radio aerial people! So come take a look at www.bransgore.org.uk and make your mark in the guest book. If you know something that may be of interest to others just e-mail the webmaster@bransgore.org.uk and you could have your items published within a few days for all to see. Notes for Editors: Bransgore is a village on Hampshire’s border with Dorset, just 5 miles north of Christchurch near Bournemouth on the South Coast of England. It’s also on the edge of the New Forest, an ancient protected region of beautiful woodland and open scrubland. The web site is non-commercial, being generated as a project of those who are interested both in the village and the fun of publishing information on the Internet. The web site is obviously most useful for information that is fairly timeless in nature, saving us from having to update it all the time, although topical items are being included so as to start to form a rolling archive of village life. Technical: The pages are entered using a home PC application called Microsoft FrontPage 2000. They are then sent, via a telephone call to an ISP (internet service provider), in this case "FreeNetName", who then holds all the data on their computer systems until anyone on the Internet requests to access it via their web-browser. As it’s the Internet it’s available 24 hours a day and to anyone around the world in just a few seconds. Anyone is welcome to contribute to a topic or write a feature. All contributions will be gratefully received, being properly credited to those who would wish it. As a guide to content we have considered, "would this be of interest to me if I were thinking of moving here or just spending some time in the area? " We would be most pleased if you were to use the above press release, notes or any of the attached logos in further publicizing the launch of our village web site.
